LEFKADIA

Winery "Lefkadia" was founded in 2006 on the territory of the village of Moldavanskoye, Crimean region in the Krasnodar Territory. His “parent” was Mikhail Ivanovich Nikolaev, a successful Moscow businessman and devotee of the development of the wine industry in Russia. Son Mikhail Mikhailovich Nikolaev, formerly a professional sommelier who worked in New York, today heads the family firm Nikolaev & Sons.

Terroir

It is not for nothing that the bunches of the “sunny berry” adorn the coat of arms and the flag of the Crimean region of the Kuban, which lies on the same latitude as the famous French wine-making region of Bordeaux.

The stake in the development of the project was made on the creation of conditions for the production of wines of the highest quality, in which the terroir will unfold. The estate was guided by the French experience of classic winemaking, enlisting the support of a French winemaker Patrick Leon.

The average soil fertility is compensated by high drainage values, a warm period of more than 8 months, a large number of sunny days per year, and unique daily temperature changes.

The variety of clay, calcareous, sandy and chalky rocks in Lefkadia and the richness of the soil with iron give rise to wines with a unique taste. The discovery of the rarest blue clay (about 40 million years old!) In the valley became a real gift to the winemaking of Lefkadia, giving its wines a special charm and sophisticated aroma. Previously, it was found in the only region of the Earth - in Pomerol (France), the place where the most expensive Chateau Petrus wine in the world is produced.
